Reading Acts 4 ; 1 – 20
SERMON OUTLINE
1) v12 speaks of the uniqueness of the name of Jesus, and v 13 about ordinary men “who had been with Jesus.”
2) What counts is a church displaying the life of Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and having confidence in the name of Jesus.
3) “The church provided living evidence of a loving God to a watching world.” – and carries all the answers to the world's needs.
4) Throughout the Bible there is a pattern of the Holy Spirit coming down, and then the word going out.
5) Story of the imam – and the walls shook!
6) Story of man commenting on Richard Dawkins in an aggressive way, but finishing with “but he’s not happy, and you are.”
7) “If you don’t believe the world’s in turmoil, you need to get your television set examined.”
8) The disciples expected a response to an encounter with God. It’s the pattern for us.
QUESTIONS OF RESPONSE
1) Read the passage. What is the Lord saying to you, and what did He say to you on Sunday?
2) How do you feel about the high expectation of the church, that Martin spoke of?
3) If Jesus meets us at our point of need – what is that point for you, at the moment?
4) Martin spoke of the unique power in the name of Jesus ( v 12). What is your reaction to that, and experience of that?
5) Are you happy?
