How were you
encouraged to deal with stress as you were growing up? “Forget about it”, “Pray
about it”, “Sleep on it”? What do you do now?
THEME
On A Vision
for Our Lives
Reading Psalm
23
SERMON SUMMARY
- Our
revelation of God’s vision for our lives will be based more on a special
awareness of God brought about through close relationship with God. This
closeness means we can align ourselves with His purpose for our lives.
- Although the
vision God has for our lives maybe small, it is part of God’s vision for
His Kingdom. God can use anyone, anywhere regardless of their past,
regardless of their plans for their future.
- What is
stopping us from being part of God’s vision? If we are to move closer to
God we must look, we must “lift my eyes” to turn away from the things that
distract us and blur our vision. If we eagerly seek and look we must
eagerly listen as well. It is not until we see what God sees, that we will
truly have vision. That is when our vision will stop and God’s vision will
start.
- What should
our vision for our lives be about? “We are simply God’s servants” – 1
Corinthians 3, 5. “We have different gifts” – Romans 12, 6. Jesus said….My
grace is sufficient for you – 2 Corinthians 12, 9.
- How can we
serve? Jesus said “I sent them into the world” – John 17, 18. Jesus said
“Go into all the world and preach” – Mark 16.15. “We are the message” – 1
Thessalonians 1:8.
- Whatever it
is He does have a vision for our lives and we will be judged on it. Jesus
said…You can tell what they are by what they do – Matthew 7.16.
- “I know the
plans I have for you declares the Lord…then you will call upon me and come
and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me, and find me
when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29.11-13).
