SERMON OUTLINE

 

1) We round off the Lord’s Prayer, with a return to “The kingdom”.

 

2) In context, the prayer is surrounded by teaching on money, food, forgiveness and worry – all vital aspects of life.

 

3) Yancey quote re prayer being the meeting point of how we view God’s and our own behaviour.

 

4) Lot’s of types of prayer. What counts is to pray.

 

5) Need to return to the kingdom perspective – so that we see life as God does.

 

6) Prayer also reminds and strengthens in us that status of being a child of the King. – able to depend on Him, feel at home with Him, and live without fear.

Read the passage, and look at the context? What strikes you, or what did God say to you on Sunday?

 

1) Do you find the Lord’s Prayer helpful, as a model for praying? Do you ever consciously use it?

 

2) What Christian disciplines do you practise (prayer included) What would you like to develop?

 

3) What do you find the most helpful, and least helpful approaches to prayer?

 

4) What brings you to church on a Sunday, or cell group mid-week, and what might keep you away? How do you prepare to come?

 

5) We concluded the service on Sunday with an invitation for ministry concerning blockages which we feel are inner obstacles to Christian growth? Where are the blockages, or hard points for group members?
